An active performer in the world of opera, Ryan Daly serves as a Professor of Voice at Valparaiso University. Students of theirs have gone on to perform in Off-Broadway productions, national tours, and regional theaters across the country. Their students have won multiple awards, including the Lotte Lenya Competition’s Emerging Artist Award and a NextGen Vocal Competition winner. While in school, Ryan’s students have consistently performed leading roles both in university productions and in local theaters.
In addition to their work at Valparaiso University, Ryan maintains a private voice studio in the Chicago area. At the high school level, students of Ryan’s regularly perform leading roles for both their schools and in community productions. Ryan has helped former students gain acceptance into conservatory level undergraduate programs, including Columbia College, Roosevelt University’s CCPA, and Temple University.
Ryan Daly has trained in voice with Allan Glassman, Dr. Marcus DeLoach, and Dr. Rick Piersall; in acting with Anthony Laciura and Brandon McShaffery; and has coached with Luke Housner, Sean Kelly, Hal France, and Valéry Ryvkin. They hold a B.M. from Abilene Christian University and an M.M. from Temple University. Additionally, Ryan is an alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival and School, Miami Music Festival, and the Utah Vocal Arts Academy.
Ryan has performed with companies nationwide, including Shreveport Opera, Opera Omaha, Opera Festival of Chicago, the Aspen Opera Theater, Miami Music Festival, and Utah Lyric Opera. They have performed many varied roles, including Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos, Don José in Carmen, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Tito in La clemenza di Tito, and Ulisse in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria. In concert settings, they have showcased their versatility as a soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, and as the Witch in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel.
